It is good to see them back after not having sugar water offered for the 10 days I was away.

This tui is fairly young and without a fully formed 'bobble' at the neck and still a bit fluffy.  It must have been a fairly late clutch. It seems to be quite common for them to have more than one sitting over the summer.

As you can see, Autumn is well on the way. On the leaf beside the bird you can see a blurry little Steel Blue Ladybird . Tuis will eat insects so this ladybird may have a very short life.
