All the way from Canada

On my doormat today , a nice new anthology of sports poems for children, with a poem by yours truly on page 48. Having transported my boys to various sporting events, cheered entheusiastically and then washed the kit , my contribution to the book is about parents. The illustration is by Kevin Sylvester.

The poem is a Kenning which is an old Anglo-Saxon or Norse form of poem. Anyone old enough to remember the Lipsmackin, thirstquenchin', Acetastin, motivatin'... Pepsi Cola advert from the seventies may recognise the style.

The book is called 'And the Crowd Goes Wild.'
