DEEP SEA FISHING

Fishing was great today on the Florida coast of the Gulf of Mexico.  I wanted to post a shot of a pelican diving, but realized one ‘still shot’ just doesn’t show their whole fishing experience.  In this photo, these three pelicans show the 3 stages of the dive:  the one on the right, after soaring over the water in search of fish, is just starting to fold its wings; the one on the left has the wings folded to a point for diving into the water, and the third is half-way into the Gulf to catch some fish.

On Flickr, I’ve posted another pelican with the reward for its efforts. (Yes, his catch is tiny, but I love the shot!)
