Seems that most of these snow geese have decided that it's okay to go behind the sign. The area is not closed to them, just to us. And they are right.
Shelly and I had a lovely day today driving down Chuckanut Drive from Bellingham to Anacortes. We stopped at the Chuckanut Bay Gallery first and visited the folks who work there. I showed Shelly around. He had never been there before.
We continued on to Edison where we went to the Smith Valley Gallery. They were showing an abstract show and I particularly liked the sculptures that were part of the show.
Next we went to the Breadfarm where we bought delicious croissant like rolls filled with cheese and ham. And desert for four to take to Dave and Nora's. And a couple of other goodies. That place has the most scrumptious baked goods.
As we continued along Bayview Road we came upon this large gathering of snow geese. We waited for them to fly. It was a bit of a wait. We were parked off the side of the road inside the car taking photos because it was raining. When I decided to move forward my Prius started acting oddly. It wouldn't turn off. It wouldn't go in gear. It seemed we were stopped cold. But somehow I got it off and then finally was able to put it in gear and drive. It didn't act up again for the rest of the day. Go figure.
When we stopped again after turning around the car and stopping on the side where the birds were, they began to move and I got quite a few photos of flying birds. You can see some in the extras.
We arrived in Anacortes and went to Dave and Nora's house for dinner. Dave cooked spare ribs, cauliflower and baked potatoes. He also made a salad. Everything was delicious. We all played Mexican Train. I was delighted that Shelly could see well enough to play the game. We all had a great time. We ate the delicious goodies we had bought at Breadfarm for desert and then Shelly and I headed home. It was a delightful day.
