Preparation
Today has been glorious weather and you can feel the atmosphere buzzing with anticipation. Eastern Orthodox Easter is not until a week after Catholic Easter this year and so we are just about to enter what is known as "Big Week". I think (though I wouldn't swear to it) that the final seven days of Jesus' life are each marked by remembrance of the daily events of the disaster as it unfolded. So lots of fun and excitement for all the family then! :-)
Buildings have been whitewashed and shutters repainted blue. Tavernas have been giving their tables and chairs a lick of paint and new tablecloths have arrived. The tavernas will often open for Easter and then, if Easter is as early as it is this year, will close again before re-opening at the start of May for the long Summer stretch.
Somebody has found the time to make a fish-skeleton tree decoration out of driftwood for a waterside eaterie.
