Passion Flower

The beautiful Passion Flower - is my flower for today - as it represents the crucifixion of Christ

Originating from South America the Passion Flower was bought there by Spanish missionaries - it is said to have arrived in Europe 1609 - an Italian priest interpreted the flower to represent Christ's sacrifice - the nails, cross, crown of thorns and his beautiful halo all remind us of that sacrifice
