That Tree Again

Out with 'the ladies' again after her riding partner was put off by the rain falling at breakfast.  In the end we were out for an hour and a half and saw no rain at all.

One the last few months I've been capturing different images of an oak tree that has established a foothold amongst the much taller pine tress in this area of Cannock Chase.  This will be one of the last occasions when the tree will remain bare of leaves and I was taken by the whiteness of the branches against the pine needles.  It was just whether I could capture it on the sensor.

it didn't work standing close to the tree, but there are a coupe of vantage points on the edge of the plantation where you get a view from distance. Unfortunately the split trunk of the oak is hidden but a characteristic of the tree's branches is that they have a tendency to grow into the more open area between the lines of conifers.  I took four shots with the 300mm and built them into a vertical panorama.  A luminosity layer helped highlight the branches against the background and a wide aperture softened the foreground and background.
