Posh night

Some time ago we invited Vikki, Cameron, Bruce, Elly, Katharine and Jack to dinner this evening. At the time we had no idea that our plans for early 2018 would be disrupted by medical treatment.

We considered cancelling our wee gathering. However, since we see Vikki and Cameron so infrequently, we decided to go ahead. This would appear to be a good decision because Vikki and Cameron told us this afternoon that they are about to move to the far east. Vikki will soon be taking up a new position with the Centre for Biomedical Ethics at the National University of Singapore.

We all had a lovely evening, all dressed up in our finery - including Elly and Vikki in their golden wedding dresses. The menu was:

Hors d'oeuvres: pesto/smoked beef on rye bread, raw carrots and celery
Soup: roast pepper and tomato (the non-fiery version)
Stews: lamb casserole for the meat eaters, mushroom stroganoff for the vegan/vegetarians, with mashed sweet potato, mangetout peas and couscous
Pudding: fresh fruit salad
Cheeseboard: mixed Scottish and European cheeses
Petit fours and coffee

My blip shows the table just before we took our seats for dinner. The extra is of Katharine and Jack enjoying drinks before the meal.

Exercise today: none (still rather too tired...)
