The Vale of York

Osmotherley  lies on the edge of the North York Moors, with the Cleveland Hills to the North, and The Hambleton Hills to the south.
I was where we started our walk today.
This is the view from the Cleveland Way near the start., overlooking the Vale of York. Not very clear today I'm afraid, and taken just after a hail storm!
We had followed the path from the village, along which were the Stations of the Cross. This took us to The Lady Chapel in the woods. The Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Grace.   ( see extra collage) The Priory is near by.
We took shelter here until the storm passed over.
Then followed part of the Cleveland Way up hill and down dale. Very muddy in parts!
Our lunch stop had wonderful far reaching views of Roseberry Topping, and Middlesborough, which we managed to see even though it was a bit dull.
On the way back we passed an old drovers inn. Chequers. Now turned into a holiday let. 
The old sign has been preserved in a glass case which is now hung on the wall of the house. ( see extra)
The sign says " Be not in haste, step inside and taste, ale tomorrow for nothing".
The other photos in the collage ( extras) are of a rams head placed in the centre of a stone wall. A painted pebble in the garden of a house, and the old stone market cross in Osmotherley, where John Wesley once preached.
Up an alley way in the village is a tiny Methodist Church dating back to the 1700's.
The walk was about 7 miles. ( Felt longer!)
Finished with tea and cakes sat outside a little cafe.
The village was packed with cars. All parked along the roadside.
Well it was Easter Sunday after all.
A lovely place to visit, but I wouldn't like to live there. 
Home now. Tired but happy.
One of our ladies gave us all a tiny Easter bag, she had made herself, full of eggs and decorated with rabbits and chicks.
 What a lovely thoughtful gift for Easter Day.
