Jubilee Tower - Moel Famau

Where to walk on Easter Sunday? It depends on what type of walk you want. We quite like to avoid the crowds, so needed to avoid walking hotspots.

We decided on a trip to the Clywdians, near Mold in Wales., starting from Loggerheads Country Park. The walk was almost 9 miles and took in the steep climb up to Moel Famau which is the highest hill in the Clywdians.

There are great views of Wales and Northern England from the top. It's said you can see Blackpool Tower on a clear day. We've yet to visit it when the visibility is that good. We did have a reasonably bright day with little wind. There was even some lying snow on the top too.

The tower, built on the summit, was there to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of George III in 1810. It was never fully completed due to lack of funds. The base is all that remains.
