The small spring in my house, vol.2
The night of the haiku gathering, I gave a phone call to my husband he lived in Tokyo because of his work.
I told the fruits of this haiku gathering with happily, that was to say, some of my mother and my haiku were selected by some members as top 5 from 80 haiku. After hearing this incident, he calmly told us, “statistically, if you choose 5 from 80 at random, the average that you are chosen is 5, over 5 is lucky, under 5 is unlucky.” Hearing this answer, I got angry and thought, why he can’t sympathize with me as saying congratulation to me honestly. I was not satisfied with his explanation, but I could not make oppose it because I lacked understanding of this issue. If I were good at science-related subjects, my life would be different from what I am 100%.
To oppose his talent, I decided to ask my first daughter to make a calculation to get a better result. She had a sense of permutations and combinations, I was sure she could solve this problem. At least the number must be more than 5 to be chosen as top from 80, 3 times.
Yesterday, I gave her a line to give me a phone call when she had time.
So, this issue will be continued.
