Pots of gold

Dropped into our local garden centre today to look for a few spring flowers to add to the pots we plant up outside our front door. 

I didn't need primulas as I have plenty from last year - I buy one or two that I really like and split them up after they've flowered. 

I ended up buying some pansies, going for the smaller-flowered varieties rather than those with flowers the size of dinner plates, as seems to be the norm these days - huge is obviously considered beautiful!

I love these gold-laced polyanthus - modern seedlings from the old Victorian varieties, though none the worse for that. I already have several so didn't buy any more - just took a picture of them!
