Back view

It isn't until you go round the back of the buildings in Dorking High Street that you see they have a complicated history. Thus one really intrigues me! What did it look like when it was first built? When did all the extra gables and windows appear, one by one or all at the same time? What sort of a jumble of steps and passages are there inside? Fascinating.
I pottered in Dorking from one shop to another, just enjoying being out. I bought a pretty summer skirt and some knitting wool. West Street in Dorking used to be almost exclusively antique shops but there are not as many now, having been replaced by gift shops and cafes.
