Maisie the Morningside Cat

Aileen Paterson, the Edinburgh author of the Maisie the cat books has died, and Emmy and Millie are sad ... ok, they probably don’t know who Aileen or Maisie are, but it makes for a blip on yet another day of woeful weather.

Over the course of three decades, Aileen’s stories about Maisie’s exploits in Edinburgh enchanted thousands of fans. In 2011, Maisie even became the face of the Lothians Buses’ number 5 service, which runs through her native Morningside.

I like what the Edinburgh Evening News did to today’s title.
