Autumn

I had a superb morning, aside from forgetting to wear gloves everything went great. Got up shortly after 7:30am, both cameras charged, memory cards empty (enough) and off to Westonbirt. It was freezing cold and we were amongst the first to arrive- the place was full of photographers and the occasional dog walker. The colours of the trees were fab and the sky clear and sunny. I managed loads of shots, 60 of which are decent and about 7 or so are good enough to do something exciting with and maybe try to sell when I have a bit more time on my hands. It was ace to be able to walk round the very popular trees without other people getting in my shots- well worth the early rise...and the first time I have walked around with a coffee in my hand! After about an hour and a half I had lost the feeling in the tip of my nose and my fingers so another hot drink was needed. On the way back called in at the Veg Shed at Highgrove which was tiny compared to how I had imagined and got some carrots and celeriac for tomorrow. The journey back also involved calling into Tetbury and I bought 2 brass gecko handles from from a shop called Artique which seems to import most of it's items from India (I think the owners may have a house out there). Last weekend a horrible discovery of mouldy coats was made- this means the coats have to come inside rather than stay in the cold, damp porch.....the gecko handles should be attached to drawers I guess but I will be using them as coat hooks on the wall.

My legs hurt from 2 consecutive days of walking but that says it all really....it is much overdue!
