Welcome Swallow
Those of you who have ever tried to capture a Welcome Swallow with its fast, erratic movement will know how thrilled I was to spot two sitting on a fence at the fishing wharf today. I sneaked up on them, pausing again and again to capture them in case they flew away - which of course they did eventually, but not before I had several photos of them.
One is a juvenile and that is my main blip. The other which is the first extra is I think, the parent. The remaining extras are of the juvenile.
The Welcome Swallow is so quick on the wing that it can catch insects in flight and it uses short bristles at the side of the mouth to help.
