A Perfect Spring day
Up in good time to drive to Windermere and climb Orrest Head. Only takes 20 minutes from the supermarket car park.
This is the view to the North from the summit.
It is taken from the exact spot at which, Alfred Wainwright, as a young man, first saw the English Lake District and fell in love with it. He then spent many years writing his much loved seven volume guide to climbing 214 peaks.
A perfect day deserves a couple of extras.
One shows the classic Langdale Pikes taken from the same spot but looking Northwest.
The other is Knottman himself taken by Mrs.K. and included at her insistence.
