Cracker Packers

When I looked at marpaul's blip for 3 April I saw that someone asked her had she read Hunter Davies's book The Biscuit Girls.  These were the girls and women who had worked in Carr's biscuit factory in Carlisle, and it reminded me that a statue had been unveiled to them on International Women's Day this year.  Hunter davies had contribute £5,000 towards the cost.  As I was in Carlisle today I went and found it, and here it is.  The factory, now McVities, is in the background on the right of the picture.
