Madrid Mayor In Trouble
The ruling party, Partido Popular, of Spain and the city of Madrid are subsumed in corruption scandals. The Mayoress of Madrid is accused, as I understand it, of either falsifying her degree credentials or paying her fees for it through public funds.
Meanwhile in Egypt, President Sisi's parade continues, albeit somewhat rained on by the fact that only 41% of those eligible to vote bothered to do so despite several days with long opening hours at the polling stations. Last time round 47% voted, so the fall in that number is perhaps one indication of the growing discontent with his authoritarian regime. We won’t mention that he decimated the field of opposing candidates by either putting them in prison or arresting their youthful party workers. The one put up at the last minute was a long time supporter of his! He didn't campaign at all.
