Aubretia

Last year, we planted a scrap of aubretia between the stones of this terracing.  It seemed to have died, but obviously it was just resting.  With the evidence this spring that the idea was a success, we'll plan to do more of the same when we get out into the garden later this year.

I spotted a newt in the pond this evening when we did a tour of "the estate".  But still no signs of any frog spawn (or even any frogs).  I think maybe next spring we will have to import some frog spawn.  I know the newts will eat it, but hopefully some will survive.
