Pearl Jam - Maracanã!!!!!
We had a bit of a lie in and started packing in the morning.
Trying to be smart and have at least one case that does not have to be touched anymore when we are in Germany.
We will be leaving tomorrow evening.
I am a bit scared of everything that will come once we arrive in Germany.
My licence luckily arrived at Christina’s today. One less thing to worry about.
After we had done some packing we had breakfast and then felt lazy.
We did plan to go for a walk, but then found an afternoon snooze more appealing.
It is our big night seeing Pearl Jam at the Maracanã Stadium!
At 6 pm we got ready. I did look a bit stupid with my Doc Marten's under my otherwise summery skirt and top, but I really did not want to go there in flip-flops. There is definitely a borderline for flip-flops, even in Rio.
We grabbed a bus to Santa Teresa Centre intending to grab a Taxi from there. There are always plenty of Taxis waiting, apart from tonight!
Also Uber had none close to us and Neil was getting a bit nervous.
We finally found a Taxi we could flag down and were on the way to Maracanã!
Together with 50.000 others ….. the traffic was mental and it took us 1.5 hours to get there.
Neil had bought the best tickets!!! Standing in the front pitch and it was again not easy to find the right entrance, but in the end we made it there for 8:30 pm.
We had of course missed the support act (Royal Blood) who we would have liked to see, but eh, in the end we were there for Pearl Jam!
The crowd was not to bad in the front pitch and drink vendors were around everywhere, very handy.
All in all the organisation and management was very good! Well - they had some years training …. :)
Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam started half past 9 pm and did not stop until almost half past 12!!!
What a show!!! I think this was the best gig I have ever seen!!! They were bloody fantastic!
For the (over an hour lasting) encore, we moved forward in the crowd. Eddie was in great form, as was the rest of the band.
Oh my god, what an experience.
They also had Red Hot Chillie Peppers Drummer there and some other guy that needs yet to be identified.
When the band finally stopped, close to half past 12 the crowd slowly left the stadium in order to wind down outside, with drinks, food etc.
We browsed the stalls, got a couple of t-shirts and wondered how we will get home.
I checked Uber and there was one literally in front of us!!
We grabbed that and were home at 1:30 am with very happy grins on our faces!
The photos are not great - but I am not willing to post anything else than Perl Jam :)
