Daffodils

Wordsworth, eat your heart out.

Today we were visiting Great Dixter, a house in Northiam, East Sussex.

Great Dixter was the family home of gardener and gardening writer Christopher Lloyd.  The house is Grade 1 listed, consisting of an original, 15th Century house, a 16th Century House moved from Benenden in Kent and a new extension all restored and brought together by architect Edward Lutyens in 1910-12.  There is also a 15th Century barn and 18th Century oast houses on the site, all Grade II listed.

But most significant are the magnificent gardens.  While wandering round one of the many separate areas of the gardens, we walked through a gap in a hedge and came across this stunning display of daffodils.

This was a splendid way to enjoy a bright, sunny day.
