Quenching a thirst on the Nile

I arrived. Finally. And as the sun hasn’t come up yet, it’s the Friday blip!! Only because the plane was two hours late... flights between Cairo and Kuwait never arrive on time. So it’s 3am, I’m exhausted and the hotel is out of all drinks except beer. So, beer it was.

It’s good to be back, and will spend Saturday from 830am with friends. It’s noisy, nothing new there! Looks as chaotic as ever, but it’s familiar. Nicely so.

Thank you for the encouraging words about my students. Unfortunately for one boy today we had to ask him to leave. The father basically said ‘told you so’. I hope the kid makes it. Sad, but necessary for the others. At least we are not his main school. And we spoke to another set of parents. All three classes should be manageable. The kids saw I was upset after we expelled the boy so they made cards. Very sweet.

Long day, late flight and a well deserved beer in a country that isn’t dry. With three days of friends and catch-ups. And an engagement party.
