The green belt
Wellington has a fantastic green belt that snakes its way around the city. Driving into town, I always look up and marvel at the contrasting greens and textures from the different trees in the belt. Recently the council culled a lot of pine trees on the hills, replacing them with native rata. We can look forward to red flowering rata at Christmas time, contrasting with the dark evergreens behind.
This shot was taken on my way home from the office this morning, and looks at the green belt of the top of the pohutukawa trees in the grounds of Parliament.
