Old Nell!s

Cycling trip was cut from 87 to 73 miles when one of our group was struck by a car and broke his ankle pretty badly.

Ambulance took an age to find us and he was in agony for about 45 mins. He came out lucky really as he was catapulted into the air and did a somersault over the car bonnet. It was the landing on one leg and turning his ankle with the full force of his weight that did it but I initially thought he must be in a very bad way but jumped up back on his feet straight away a walked back to look at his bike.

Once the shock had worn, in a few seconds he knew his ankle had gone and the pain kicked in. He knew it was his fault, just made a bad judgement coupled with an unexpected, pretty much legitimate manoeuvre from the car. It could of been a hell of a lot worse and we were all relieved and thankful that he got away with the injury he had. The rest of the ride was quite a sober one.
