Outlander in Culross

Visited Culross the conservation village on the Firth of Forth this afternoon.

It’s famous for the 17th century Culross Palace, and as the home of Thomas Cochrane, 10th Earl of Dundonald, a charismatic figure known as the “sea wolf” because of his love of fights, an adventurer, inventor, and even MP. He was the first Vice Admiral of Chile- having gone into battle for them.

Now a war memorial to him designed by Sir Robert Lorimer stands in the village square.

But today Culross has a new claim to fame- it features in Outlander, the TV series, and with it comes the tourists on the Outlander trail.

I must confess I have never watched it.
