Training

In between my training sessions I do get out and about to practice but today I was with Mike, my instructor.
Set off at 0900 to meet him at The Aviator, Staverton Airfield, and we set off towards Cheltenham - A40 Golden Valley Bypass to pick up the M5 North, came off at Tewkesbury, through the town and off towards Ledbury and Upton on Severn. Got back home about 1400.
Stopped off at Upton to have a mid ride debrief about how it went over a coffee. We went into the cafe opposite a bust of a chap that I thought looked like Eric 'Winkle' Brown, turned out to be Admiral Sir William Tennant. See Extra's.
If you want to know about the extraordinary man and hero that was Eric Brown here's a Link.
Back to the cafe, can't remember the name but when we walked in we realised we were in a rather appropriate place when we saw the 'Triton' Cafe Racer motorbike on display against one wall  :-)
The photograph shows my CTX1300 in the foreground and Mikes BMW RS1200 behind.

Not easy to read the inscription on the bust plinth so here it is
"Sir William Tennant
KCB - CBE - MMO
1890 - 1963

Senior Naval Officer Dunkirk 1940
Captain H.M.S. REPULSE 1940-41
Rear Admiral MULBERRY and PLUTO D-Day Normandy 1944
Flag Officer Levant and East Mediterranean 1944-45
C-in-C (Commander in Chief) America and West Indies 1947-49
Lord Lietenant of the City and County of Worcester 1950-63"

Looks like he was quite an impressive man too.
