I don't really get to go into shops up here much anymore so may have been able to find a replacement mug without having to travel two hundred miles, but the giant hardware/kitchenware shop in York was able to supply not just one new large-capacity mug but two, both with apertures narrower than the mugs maximal diameters, all the better to reduce spillage and retain warmth. One was twice the price of the other so I got one of each just in case one turns out to be badly-made as there's no guarantee that it won't be another six years before we next pass through York.
