Balance
IntotheHills has suggested a Tiny Tuesday theme of ‘ never seen that before’
The human foot is a spectacularly beautifully engineered bit of anatomical kit. It consists of about twenty six bones , thirty three joints according to Wikiwotsit, and dozens of muscles tendons and ligaments.
After an ankle fracture the mending of the bone is the relatively straightforward part. The re-education of all the tiny muscles around it presents quite a challenge. I bought an inflatable balance ball to retrain my weak ankle foot and calf muscles, and the picture is the tiny grippy bits on the top. It’s a bit wet because I had to wash it, it was shamefully dusty!
I expect not many people have their own wobble ball so if you’ve never seen one before this is mine, although usually they are wooden and solid with a rounded base.
On a completely different subject the extra which was taken last night at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre is the view from my seat when sitting in a normal comfortable upright position. When the theatre was refurbished some years ago someone thought it was a good idea to put a wooden rail right in your line of sight .Not the most expensive seats of course, they’re not all like this, but you don’t expect that sort of obstruction. Not clever.
