Hidden Treasure
Isn't it funny how things happen sometimes? I was half a mile out of the village litter picking in the damp and gloom when I 'good morninged' a cyclist zipping past on the other side of the road. A moment later he had turned around and, smiling, appeared at my shoulder. 'Do you remember me?' he asked. I peered at him and certainly his face looked somewhat familiar. The mind starts racing through all the pockets of people one knows, but I had to admit that I was struggling to place him. It turns out that it was Andrew, of Lorraine and Andrew, who we had met on the train from Glasgow to Oban last May when all four of us were heading off on cycling adventures on the Outer Hebrides. We had a few minutes' catch up about retirement fun before the cold set in and we parted company with good wishes. Don't you just love it when those things happen?!
Back home I warmed up with soup and toast then we had an enjoyable audio catch up with Becky on Skype as she walked to work in Boston - never fails to amaze me how clear is the conversation all those miles across the pond. She has a busy few weeks ahead before we arrive to join her and Rob for another adventure, so we needed to touch base about final details.
Two miles later, she arrived at work and I took a walk down to the garden centre to get a card and wrapping paper for a friend's grandchild's birthday present. I completed my circuit walking back through St Ives and decided to try and blip this small stream. More difficult than it seems because the access to it is heavily overgrown. I also never know whether it is part of the garden of the row of houses above, so I was in and out quickly!
