New adventure!

Off on our travels again today - definitely a new adventure for us - off to visit our daughter in Kuwait for a few days, then to Dubai for a couple of days, then meeting up with Laura again in Sri Lanka for 8/9 days over her Spring Break! It was a cold, grey morning in Cincinnati, and we were glad we were leaving in the morning, as snow was in the forecast again for the evening! It seems that winter is reluctant to leave both sides of the Atlantic! The first leg of our journey was with American Airlines up to Chicago, leaving at noon, so we left the house at a very civilized 9 am! We could have taken a later flight, but since this flight was a separate booking and airline to our continuing flight, Roger wanted to play it safe, so we had a long layover. We couldn’t see much at all flying out of Cincinnati, but fortunately visibility was better in Chicago, and I was able to get a few shots as we were coming in to land. The top two shots of my collage show a couple of murals and old cars on display in Cincinnati airport. Since our onward flights were with Emirates, we had to reclaim our bags in Chicago, and since the check-in didn’t open for several hours, keep them with us. This also meant we had a limited choice for lunch, since most eating places are in the secure area. However, we found a nice cafe area at an airport hotel at one of the terminals, and had a good lunch then stayed there for a while, reading our kindles. Later, we returned to the International terminal and were able to check in. We had a coffee and shared a blueberry muffin then went to our gate. Our flight to Dubai on Emirates took off about 8.40 pm - about a 13 hour flight!
