Cranes Over The City Of Bears
Out for our usual Sunday trip and was surprised at how much snow there was. Must have been quite windy too as the north sides of the trees were covered in snow (which looked awful pretty in a I'm-not-sick-of-the-sight-of-snow-yet way). It was also, unsurprisingly, really cold.
We started off our day in the garden picking edible chestnuts which was fun until my gloves got soaked through and my hand started to freeze. Micha the cat stopped by to make sure we were doing it right. He came up with a novel way of inspecting the work of G & the QSM. As they were bent over, he jumped very neatly on to their backs and then proceeded to lay down.
After collecting a couple of kilos of chestnuts, we headed out for a walk. And that was when I got today's Blip. This large group of cranes flew in and began circling overhead. The noise and the sight of them always makes me smile. After circling and gaining height, they headed off. Just magic.
Our walk was good fun - we found a couple of trees with apples still in them and decided to save them from the snow and cold. We had great fun until one tree decided to eat my apple liberating sticks. Still, by that time we had about 8 kilos of apples.
Back to the house and our normal Kaffee & Kuchen was very welcome after being out in the cold for so long. It was also notable for the fact that I ate my first ever slice of proper cheesecake. I don't know why it's taken me this long to get round to eating it but it has. It was, I'm very happy to report, delicious. I could only manage two slices though. Or quarters as I think they're called. Totally full now and not wanting any dinner.
