Outcasts!

These are our two young swans from last years brood.

You can see the male in the distance who has been actively shunning them for some time. No sign of the female so we assume she is nesting on the island and, I hear, has also been very aggressive towards them. A bit sad really but such is nature.

They never looked up so we didn't feed them. I threw a few pellets to a Coot but he didn't seen too interested either. Round at the feeding station there wasn't a single bird. Either they are all busy mating or nesting or they have been totally stuffed by the many children who will have visited over the Easter holidays, still on in this area.

A grey and bleak day again but apart from the mud it was good to be out with the walkers again this morning.
