I just had a short conversation with my husband that I never wanted to have.
You wanna know what kind of a country we live in now?
He was just going to take our son out for a walk, and said he needed his wallet.
I asked, for what?
He said... you never know.
You never know if the ICE will just come and grab him simply because he had no proof he was a legal immigrant.
You never know when suddenly, my son's father will be taken away.
You never know when that actually happens, and then I'll never know my 7 month old son will just be in his stroller somewhere, alone.
You never know simply because my husband is latino.
You never know if the day I walk into a school as a teacher, a shooting will happen.
You never know if I'll actually not be at home that evening.
You never know when I'll have to be the one who will weep with students and their families.
You never know because this country has idolized guns and power more now than the safety and lives of their children.
You never know now what Christianity really is, because the churches are divided.
You never know who will not be nice to you in a white church, simply because you're not a Republican or a Democrat.
You never know if you're even considered a Christian by many because they have decided that being a follower of one of those parties is now more important than being a Christ follower.
You never know.
