Back Peak and Otarama

Captured through a hole in my hedge. Please excuse yet another starling. There are several of them and in the early morning they fly back and forth between a tree and a shed, both out of shot.

While I was working in the greenhouse today (the warmest place) I found a male praying mantis on a grape leaf. His wing case was rather damaged, with reddish brown marks, giving him a colouring not unlike the leaf he was sitting on. See extra shot.
