Welcome back, # 22
How could I resist this for today's photo? The pair of Eastern Bluebirds were back in the garden this morning, going in and out of the nest box. In this shot, he is singing his ethereal soft song. Bluebirds don't open their beaks full-tilt the way most birds do, preferring to let their sweet song drift out of the slightest opening. You can tell he's singing by the slightly puffed feathers on the throat. He and Madame have been hanging around for much of the morning, mostly up in the trees but occasionally visiting the nest box. No signs of grass in the nest yet, but all signs look good.
In addition to the bluebirds, today's warm temps also brought a few pollinators around as well as one rather cute tiny Jumping Spider that I'll put in Extra. My photos are suffering a bit at the moment from not having good use of my right arm, but I'm reasonably happy with both of these shots.
Still sorting and identifying photos from the trip but expect to have that job done over the weekend. I am going slowly because I can't use my left hand for the mouse and my right wrist is still pretty sore - so slow and steady rather than my normal fast and furious!
Thank you for the many kind comments and wishes. It is definitely harder recovering from injuries as one gets "more mature". I'm going to make it a goal not to have another fall like that again...ever.
Happy Friday.
