Just landed!

Oh for some sunshine and warmth!  We had to wait in for the Engineer to come and service the boiler today, so it was an opportunity to do some jobs around the house as well as clearing a path for him to reach the boiler and the thermostat and the gas meter.  We asked him to check out a couple of the radiators which only get partially hot but we already sort of knew what he would say.  Living in a house which is 170 years old,  suffered from a succession of cowboys before we moved in, then had a modern extension added, nothing is ever straightforward.  The radiators are made of several different materials and there is pipework of varying diameters.  Long story short, we have sludge in the system so a powerflush is needed...expensive!  I'm thinking having the wood-burning stove in for next winter will be a big plus.

After lunch I walked down in to Bingley to the hole in the wall and to have a running top shortened so it looks less like a mini dress!  I decided to walk home on a different route to suss out the hill rep circuit we are going to use with the Hobblers.  It will be challenging but they are up for it!  It runs through the area of St Ives which was felled following the virus in the larch trees and it sadly still looks a wasteland.

No blip inspiration again with the gloomy day so I watched Tony doing some shredding of raspberry and buddleia stems under the elder tree.  The small birds were still happy to fly back and forth despite his presence and the noise from the shredder.  This blue tit  had just landed on a topmost branch but he is already checking out which feeder he might fly to next.

Tomorrow we are orienteering in the Lake District and in the evening yearofhappy and I will be joining yorkshirebred, corinthiancolumn and Mr CC in a quiz team at the Ling Bob (pie and pea supper!) to fund raise for Airedaleknitter's forthcoming Canyon Trek for Sue Ryder.  Looking forward to it!
