Novelty Cake

This is my attempt at a novelty cake for my friend’s birthday surprise lunch tomorrow. As he’s head of ground crew for our barnstorming display team I’ve attempted to recreate the limbo poles, bunting, flour bombs and balloons.

I used burger sticks, coloured tissue paper, thread, icing sugar and jelly sweets with Lego figures for the crew (on loan from a friend’s son).

You’ll notice the absence of an aircraft that’s because as Turb Team crew we spend most of our time waiting for the pilots to turn up!

The grass is buttercream with a vanilla sponge filling so it’s super sickly sweet. Let’s hope the team approve of my creation especially birthday boy.
