Outstanding...

New Teacher of the Year 2012.

This is Ms Bailey who I think was Gaby's favourite teacher when she was in sixth form. Well, she has won the national award, which you may have seen on tv this evening.

It was obviously an intense process to choose the winner - apart from visits for the regional contest, there were then days where the judges came to follow the teacher around for the day, talk to us parents, their colleagues and of course the children.

Eventually, a month ago, the BBC turned up to video her and her pupils for a whole day. We thought then she was in with a very good chance. Last Sunday though, we knew for certain, as off she went to London for the presentation at the Victoria Palace theatre.

She is a wonderful person, and I know Gaby and her friends have always been effusive about her. She may well be Outstanding New Teacher of the year, but she has already been promoted to be the Head of the English department!
