Commemoration

4799 named white crosses on the lawn in front of the museum, in memory of those Aucklanders who died in World War 1.
Inside the museum is a room with the names on marble plaques on the wall. On part of the wall is a section with blank panels, and at the bottom are the words “Let these panels remain with no names”. A poignant message in the current world situation?
