When S looked up the information page of the line company, it said that the outage at Snells would be fixed within 48 hours. We thought and decided to head back to Auckland. Despite continuing rain and being dark by then, it was an easy drive, and we were much more relaxed. S' brother (across from Melbourne for a few days with their mother) texted to inform us that the power was restored, supporting my thought about cause.
The rain persisted in Auckland until after lunch when it suddenly stopped and the sun tried valiantly to warm everything and everyone. Somewhat exercise deprived, I got on the bike and rode (mainly on the new cycle lanes) to Viaduct Harbour with my camera. Looking for Big Hoot owls.
The one I've blipped is called Mr Me-owl by its artist, Carmel McCormick. She saw a cat in the undecorated white owl she began with and has produced this rather splendid puss-in-feathers.
The extra is the result of a collaboration between three DJs from a radio station (who sponsored this owl) and Paul Walsh. The photo includes one of the Viaduct sculpture trail pieces, which is just behind the Big Hoot owl.
