Mer de Glace

After the conference efforts yesterday, today was a day for fun and relaxation. A bit of a lie in the hotel, and the sun was shining as I had breakfast, and then checked out. Picked up by Richard and Ellena and off to Chamonix. Out along the peage, and along the valley of the river Arve - snow capped mountains and the Mont Blanc massif appeared. Coffee in the sun, then took the Montenvers railway up to the Mer de Glace. Stunning place. Telecabine and walked down to the glacier, and into the ice tunnels and caves, and up for lunch. Made our way down on a crowded return journey full of skiers, and did a bit of shopping in Chamonix before heading back to Geneva, and across the border into France for the evening - food, conference stuff and wine... and some French beer of course
