A large stretch of one of the busiest roads in town is closed for 6 weeks; the recommended detours add a few miles to each car journey.

Just after 5pm today it doesn't look like a lot is happening - just a few small holes, which doesn't seem much for 3 days' work, but perhaps there is more to it than meets the eye.
