Kirkcudbright War Memorial

We really enjoyed our day here.  It's a very neat and tidy place, lots of flowers, ever such helpful and friendly folk and so much to see.  We made the most of our Historic Scotland membership and visited MacLennan's castle, then the Stewartry Museum, a couple of galleries and some interesting little shops.  Excellent bakers too!

It was a bit wet, but we had a good walk by the river and Ollie met Rhuairidh, a wonderful beardie, half his age, with a full flowing coat.  Amazing how they seem to recognise a dog of their own breed, and lovely to see them playing together.

We had a really lovely time and it's definitely a place we would like to come back to.  I've just finished reading Five Red Herrings by Dorothy L Sayers, based in this area in the 1931, so it is fun finding connections.
