Spectre Of Disapointment

The only way to find out if an old Polaroid camera still works is to put film in it and try. This is because the power is in the film - each sheet has it's own battery. This is why it is so expensive, ...partly. If the camera's broken, it's cheaper to buy a new one. This is the face of someone just learning this from one of my colleagues having tried a pack of film.
