Essex County Hospital

I took someone to have their cataract operation today. It's all very efficiently done and doesn't take too long.
I worked here back in the day as an obstetric and gynaecology junior doctor. It was very hard work and we had little sleep as we did our 80 hour stint over a weekend . We seldom had time to eat and generally lived off toast and coffee. Couldn't do it now! Happy days though.
The hospital is due to close later in the year and the site used for housing. I know these old places are not really very up to scratch now but it's sad in a way to see them pulled down.
