Meeting Buddha

We left Nikko by bus then train this morning - what a delight to get our tickets in a small station after bonkers Tokyo. So easy! When the train came in and the passengers disembarked, cleaners entered from both ends with little vacuum cleaners. There were also people going from carriage to carriage flipping the seats round so that everybody would face the front. In 3 minutes they departed with the rubbish, and the train was immaculate, so we were ushered aboard. So clean, efficient - not to mention polite - when the ticket inspector entered and left the carriage he turned to the passengers, took off his uniform cap, and bowed.

Mr C had done a good job and found a hotel near the station, in Tokyo, which is also close to another station we’ll depart from tomorrow for the airport. After checking in we had a wander in the horribly busy street of shops leading to the temple. Here is Mr C looking like an extra in M.A.S.H.

The hotel has a roof terrace with a view of the 630 metre high Skytree, a telecom building. It was Happy Hour - wine, beer and champagne half price. Mr C has not had his pacemaker fitted yet, so maybe I should not have ordered a glass of champagne.

Here’s to the next part of our adventure. We’ll be in China tomorrow, but I don’t know if I can Blip or not. I know social media isn’t allowed.
Thank you for following our trip. It has been amazing.
