View from the lough
The promised heatwave has arrived at last. Well, more of a 'warmwave' here, really - the temperature reached 19℃ for a short while - but hey, compared with this time last week, it's positively tropical!
After spending most of the day indoors, MrM and I set off for a walk after tea. Along the track on Weetwood Moor, past Coldmartin Lough (to the bottom right of the Blip, and extra) and over the moors to the top track. And back by a rather longer route than intended. (The field we should have walked through was populated by a herd of frisky and inquisitive bullocks, which I avoid whenever possible, since being intimidated by a similar herd in the past.) The detour led to an unexpected close encounter! As we were walking down the track, a deer jumped over the wall just in front of me, but jumped straight back again into the woodland on seeing us. A little further down the track, I climbed the bank to look over the wall with the intention of taking a shot or two of the view, only to come face to face with the same deer (extra). We looked at each long enough for a couple of shots, before he loped away across the field.
It was almost dark by the time we reached the car, just before 9.00pm, after a very pleasant walk.
