Davaar Island and M110 from Black Rock

12.6C starting very misty then clearing to lovely bright sunny spells. Light WSW/W breeze.

Fergus and I went for a walk out to the old shipyard and beyond after lunch.
The path was dry today, so we went all the way to the second gate past Slaty Farlan and Black Rock.
There were a few Gannets diving in the channel by Davaar island.
M110 HMS Ramsey sailed out into the Kilbrannan sound when we were out at Black Rock.

We came back home round the esplanade and went round to the harbour in time to see RMS Rahm approaching the new quay. Ronja Supporter was at the new quay on the linkspan side. That reminds me to mention that the CalMac ferry to Ardrossan will be a month late in starting its season this year due to lack of ferries due to ongoing maintenance issues ... says CalMac.

Note: The official opening evening for the Picture House was wonderful.
There was a piper to great us, drinks and nibbles were forthcoming.
Assembled in the main auditorium (screen1) we had the local brass band then the necessary speeches.
First movie was a specially commissioned film on the restoration. Very entertaining, using the device of having a character representing the showman and first managing director FR Burnette act as narrator.
There was a break to allow replenishment of glasses and more nibbles.
Then the main film, an exclusive preview of Edie (played by Sheila Hancock) introduced by the producer. Mostly set in the area of the mountain Suilven in North West Scotland and in Lochinver, a film about the determination of Edie to climb a mountain after a suffocated life with a domineering husband to whom she was tied as a carer for the last long years of his life. We were assured that at the age of 84 (at the time of shooting) Sheila Hancock did all the walking and climbing and was determined to do so !
We also got a copy of the new book about the cinema and its restoration ... where the archive group is mentioned in the acknowledgements.
