After quite a good nights sleep, we headed out quite early to catch the train to Penarth, (rain was forecasted for 10. o'clock). We walked along the pier surrounded by ominous skies and grey swelling seas. Rosie had chosen today to wear a short floaty dress that the wind whipped up several times so she spent our walk, trying to keep her modesty. We needed hot chocolates in the pier cafe. In the end it didn't rain, so we wandered around the little town, but did not buy anything. We caught the train back to Cardiff, and then walked to a cafe we had read about in the guide at the apartment. It was quite a long walk and apparently I was a bit hangry, but we found The Society Standard, (because they had a special section on their menu just for mac'n'cheese). There was quite a wait for food, I did mime drinking the ketchup, but it was worth the wait, and with a full tummy, the walk back did not seem half so far, and was quite interesting, going passed the university buildings and then back along through the park.. We bought a light dinner from M and S and then went back to our apartment for a bit of r and r.
Later we headed back out into the city centre for cocktails, which were very nice too.
